Writer Wednesday

Last week I was back to almost 13K, so I’m doing just fine. I hope to finish the missions of the Lone Wolves Team by Easter so I can concentrate on the last Star Minds Lone Wolves novel, now called Rogue (instead of New Thief). I have no idea how long that story will be, so I might have to write a couple of shorts to go with it, LOL! Although a long-haired 20-something rogue might be quite inspiring…

And the anthologies are both live! Fantasy Portals eBook universal linkΒ and paperback. More Portals eBook universal linkΒ and paperback. Check out these great stories of portals! πŸ™‚ And stay tuned for some authors interviews…

Publishing weekend means I uploaded also Legends of the Moren Empire Volume 1, although I won’t be writing volume 2 and 3 until mid-summer. Well, as soon as I finish with the Lone Wolves I’ll get back to it, so it might be June… But I won’t publish them before September anyway.

Anyhow, if you’re up for some epic fantasy, it’s available as eBook for now. I’ll do all the paperbacks for my own books in May.

I have 50 strips of the Silvery Earth Kids, but I’m still in the process of coloring and lettering them. At first they will be available only on my Patreon, but I’ll do a paperback at the end of the first 52 strips (one a week = a year) as well as a version for the visually impaired that will be in eBook form at first, and possibly in audio later – maaaaybe! πŸ˜‰ And I’ll probably upload the strips to some webcomic site as well sometime next year!

Yesterday I didn’t write because I was brainstorming with my map and my Silvery Earth calendar where and when exactly the story takes place. I had to change a few sentences when I realized that Copperscales couldn’t be the daughter of a first generation Fajrulo (The Golden Goddess meantioned in The Sun Sword), so she’s Bloodfire’s granddaughter instead (he’s a main character The Sun Sword).

So the story is set in Inex, a northern town seen in The Path of Water but fifty years earlier, so it’s still just a big village with a castle, and a small kingdom of its own. And I drew the prince heir of that kingdom, Lambert who will soon enter the strip/webcomic. Here he is in all his plump childhood! πŸ™‚ I wanted to add a rounder child but the only ones who might be overweight at that time could only be nobles or royalty, so…

After Easter there’s a series of national holidays for Italy, so I hope to put in some publishing stuff. I need to put the Vampires Through the Centuries on Draft2Digital for when they open the distribution to GooglePlay. I also added the distribution to libraries through them. Still trying to find all the links for the audiobook of Otherside, but still can’t find it on Kobo or Amazon.

And I’ll probably send out a newsletter as well, no longer regular, but it’s been four months and I think I have a few things to say to whoever is still subscribed there! πŸ˜‰ I guess that’s all for today… have a great week! πŸ™‚

Random Friday

Totally random randomness… saw the announcement on Patreon? Change of schedule and new tier? Good! Now you get a preview of Sunday’s post. One of a kind, never to be duplicate again. If you’ve never met me, you’re going to hear my voice. And I’m someone who hates the sound of her own voice. I hate reading my stories aloud, etc.

So I did this little experiment with Voice Recorder and Video Editor on Netbook, since when I went looking for Windows Movie Maker I saw it was discontinued and to use the alternatives on Windows 10 (which is what’s on 1-year-old writing Netbook). So here’s my first attempt at making a video with those two thingies and no music.

Silvery Earth Kids character presentation.

I know, I suck. My admiration goes to the narrators of audiobooks! πŸ™‚ Yesterday was another non-writing afternoon, since I had to check the second audiobook before approving it… and I have made some character sheets for Silvery Earth Kids too! πŸ™‚

And since my post skills on Patreon are still limited (I seem to be allowed one image in the text-only posts and no image in the others), I shall post the character sheet here as well as on DeviantART… Here are our little guys and their friends and foes! πŸ™‚

On a slightly different topic, one of my cover artists, Federica Manfredi, has designed a couple of T-shirts. If you’re looking for ideas, check Alien Puppies (for kids) and Pee-Rex (for men?! Well, adults) on Moteefe (I’m sure you can change the language set on Italian, you’re smart people, you!).

Busy weekend with Romics happening in town, so Sunday I’ll go to the comicon and Saturday I’ve got to make those paperbacks, argh! Hopefully the second antho is already on pre-order as ebook by now… Have a great weekend! πŸ™‚

Random Friday

I’ve been thinking of my visually impaired readers who can’t really enjoy a webcomic… and it occurred to me that it might also be a sort of serial flash fiction. Although I’ll have to study how to turn a series of strips into a decent flash fiction… currently I’m still under 1000 words of text, but it’s just dialog, since the panel shows whatever is not said.

So it would need to be beefed up for prose purposes, and probably split into episodes. As an experiment, here go the first five strips presenting the characters with a frame for the visually impaired. On purpose, I’m not reposting my color palette attempts and let me know if you can “see” them.

SILVERY EARTH KIDS

ONE

The five lined up in front of the audience and fussed a little about their positions. Then they started introducing themselves. First came a blonde girl with pointed ears and a floral dress with puffy sleeves. She had pale skin and baby blues and spoke in a soft voice.

“Hello, my name is Goldenberry and I’m a Genn,” she said with a curt bow. “We’re Ether’s people and mainly magic users these days. Once upon a time whe had kingdoms, much like the Humans… But they chased us away and we moved underground, invisible to them!”

She curtsied again and looked at the boy next to her. He wore a short tunic of nacreous fabric and sandals. He had brown hair to the shoulder and water-green eyes. He bowed his head with a lopsides smile.

“Hello, my name is Erwan and I’m a Waiora,” he said. “We’re Water’s people and are normally found in both fresh and saltwater, but we can live on land as well. We can shift shape to dolphins, seals or otters… But our towns are at the bottom of the sea, where Humans can’t go.”

The boy at the end of the line started fidgeting, looking at his booted feet. The next in line was a redhead with freckles and feathered wings the same color of her hair. She wore tight-fitting clothes that left her legs bare and flat shoes. She seemed ready to open her wings and fly off.

“Hello, my name is Winged Ylenia and I’m a Sila,” she said shyly. “We’re Air’s people and live mostly up in the clouds. We eat Clouds’ Nectar more than anything else but we can eat some earthly food. Our nests are on the highest peaks where Humans don’t go.”

She got closer to the copper dragon standing next to her. She had horns and pointed ears and a ridge of copper scales as well as bat-like wings. Her belly was golden and her fangs didn’t look threatening. She was obviously a dragon cub and only the boy next to her looked nervous in her presence.

“Hello, my name is Copperscales and I’m a Fajrulo,” she said. “We’re Fire’s people and the most powerful of the Magical Races. There’s fewer of us, but we can shift shape to look like other races, Magical or not. We love mingling with Humans and passing ourselves off as gods!”

She looked at the blond boy next to her. Clearly Human, he wore tunic and breeches and boots. He looked uneasy in such company and he almost stuttered when he spoke.

“Er… I’m Torik. I’m Human. I have no magic. I’m short-lived. I’m a barbarian to the Magical Races. I’m ignorant. I know nothing of gods and goddesses. I’m scared of dragons.”

The other kids surrounded him and hugged him. They were his friends, they’d never let him down. Yes, he might not be a member of the Magical Races like the other four… “But we love you anyway!” they chorused.

A tear of joy ran on Torik’s cheek. He felt fortunate to have such friends, although he didn’t know much about them. Surely they could have a lot of fun together!

So, what do you think? I could serialize the flash and strips on Patreon at the lower level of 1$ a month… Anyone interested in this? Thanks for any comments! Have a great weekend! πŸ™‚
