Sunday Surprise – #8Sunday

Hello and Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where writers from a wide variety of genres share excerpts from their work in ten sentences or less. We are now in Rithvik’s point of view and Kerrien is consulting a mage, hoping to find out what ties him to the beautiful prince. And again, since I have the drawings, here you get your 8-10 sentences illustrated!

***

Veralie sighed, opened her eyes and leaned back.

“No, Kerrien, I don’t feel any magic left in him.”

“But why do I fall asleep when he does and wake up when he does and can’t get rid of him?” Kerrien protested.

Veralie giggled. “Maybe because you like him?”

Rithvik started to like her. Very much. Please make him fall in love with me! Maybe she knew some love spell – but then, he couldn’t ask her in front of Kerrien. He better try to use his old skills again.

***

Beautiful blurb:

Kerrien prided himself on never getting lost, not even in the deepest, darkest forest. That skill came in handy when tracking someone. It gave him an edge over whomever he was looking for. But he sometimes was taken by surprise by what he found.
Kissing a prince awake might not be the smartest thing Kerrien ever did in his life. Especially since he’s now stuck with the beautiful sleeper with a puppy disposition, and has no idea of who sent him to sleep and why.
Feeling a stray cat himself, can Kerrien put up with the young prince demands? Cats and dogs are not supposed to get along, do they?
A fairy tale retelling, a sweet m/m romance, a Silvery Earth novel.

Hello and Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where writers from a wide variety of genres share excerpts from their work in ten sentences or less. We are now in Rithvik’s point of view and you can see what a struggle it will be for him to overcome Kerrien’s denial. And again, since I have the drawings, here you get your 8-10 sentences illustrated!

You’re still used to sleeping like a prince, aren’t you?”

“Well, you could keep me awake…” Rithvik grinned, glancing at Kerrien’s groin.

“Don’t even think about it!” Kerrien warned.

Rithvik sighed. It was going to be a struggle to convince the fierce mercenary to give in to some tenderness.

“Thank you for these boots,” he said. “Much better than my old slippers. What season is it? Will I need a cloak soon?”

Hello and Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where writers from a wide variety of genres share excerpts from their work in ten sentences or less. This is the end of part 1, before I switch to Rithvik’s point of view (that you shall see next week). And again, since I have the drawings, here you get your 8-10 sentences illustrated!

“Then why can’t I leave you?”

“Because you like me?”

Kerrien wanted to strangle him. But he just couldn’t.

He groaned and turned his back to the beautiful prince before he did something he’d regret.

“You don’t like me? Why did you kiss me then? Kerrien!”

“Shut up, Rithvik!”

Sunday Surprise – #8Sunday

Hello and Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where writers from a wide variety of genres share excerpts from their work in ten sentences or less. Since last week’s excerpt was so successful, let’s continue with those two. This scene is actually before the last, Kerrien has just kissed Rithvik awake and they are still in the castle. And since I have the drawings, here you get your 8-10 sentences illustrated!

Finally they emerged in the courtyard and Rithvik gaped as he looked around.

“No more castle…” he whispered. Then he brightened. “No more kingdom!”

He grinned at Kerrien. “Thank you!” He threw his arms around Kerrien’s neck and stamped a quick kiss on the mercenary’s lips.

Startled, Kerrien pushed him away.

“Are you out of your mind?” he protested.

Rithvik kept his arms behind his back and kept grinning from ear to ear.

Sunday Surprise – #8Sunday

Hello and Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop where writers from a wide variety of genres share excerpts from their work in ten sentences or less. This is my first post on this wonderful blog hop, so let’s cut to the chase and start that excerpt from Beautiful. This is Sleeping Beauty revised as m/m romance on my secondary world of Silvery Earth.

Something was very wrong. He shouldn’t have slept that soundly.

Maybe the kiss had done it. Tied him to that crazy prince. He decided to get away from the tavern without breakfast…

But his feet brought him to the main room where Rithvik joined him with a bright smile.

“I thought there would be a barber in the inn, but nobody is willing to shave me. Will you do it?” the prince asked.

Sunday Surprise

Hi guys,

I’m Samantha and I come from another world – the original, old Silvery Earth, where people are immortal and never grow up. When I’m not switching bodies at will, I travel to other universes, especially books or movies. That’s how I met Rajveer the vampire, for example!

So, I’m taking over the interviews on this blog! And here I am, meeting people from other books/universes/whatever!

Cinder Boy_resizeSo, you must be the gorgeous guy on the cover of the book! Tell me a little about yourself!

Book? *stares blankly at her* My name is Rohan and I’m in my twenties, but they keep calling me Cinder Boy. I supposedly own a manor at the edge of the forest, but my stepmother will never allow me to take my late father’s place!

Oh, why do we always have evil stepmothers in fairy tales? *snorts* Let’s move on. Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

I’m tall, well built, with blue eyes.

Yes, we can see that! *chuckles* Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?

I have my stepmother and my stepbrothers who are doing their best to keep me out of my father’s legacy… they treat me like a servant in my own house!

Would you kill for those you love? And would you die for them?

I don’t have anyone left. My mother died when I was a child, my father remarried that bitch and then passed away… But if I could, I’d enter the service of the king and do my best to protect the royal family.

Where do you live?

In a manor not far from Ker Noran, a small northern kingdom on the shore of the River Wated.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

Unfortunately no. I’m not allowed to go to the castle anymore. I live a very solitary existence.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Finding my father’s weapons and armor to attend the tournament for the return of Prince Kurtis, so I can show the world my worth even though I was never officially knighted.

Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

I have found a pond of warm water in the forest. I like to go there and bathe and relax after the day chores. It’s my secret place, so don’t tell anyone.

I won’t! Although the readers can admire you doing just that on the book cover, LOL! But let me get to the next guest… Another handsome young man, trust me! Tell me a little about yourself, my lord.

Prince Kurtis of Ker Noran. I’m twenty-nine, but since I decided I will not get married, my father will pass the throne to my younger brother Ewan.

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Tall, strong and dark-haired.

What is your relationship with Rohan?

Coming back from Moriana where I’d spent three years, I saw that gorgeous young man bathing in a forest pond very close to my father’s castle. Pity he’s probably just a servant and I’m very busy catching up at Ker Noran, but as soon as things calm down, I’ll claim him.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

I wouldn’t mind a relationship with Rohan, he looks very sweet. You might have guessed by now that I don’t want to marry because I prefer men… but so far my relationships haven’t lasted!

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Finding out who the Nameless Knight is, and then getting to Rohan’s heart.

Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

I have Waiora friends. They’re members of one of the Magical Races, they’re water people. One of them was my first male lover and we’re still friends.

Sunday Surprise

Hi guys,

PrinceSplendorDTFSooooo… hello, gorgeous! Tell me a little about yourself

I’m Splendor, prince of Bold Castle. Well, I’m a prince of a small northern kingdom, close to a forest and, um… well, let’s say that I’m the most wanted bachelor of the lot, and I have two lovely ladies that I’m considering marrying, except there’s a… well, she’s the court witch and she also has a fancy on me and so… she curses me.

A-ha! A witch! A real one. This new Silvery Earth has some nice tricks! *chuckle* Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Blond and blue-eyed. I’m never sure if they like me for my looks or my title, to be honest.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

I had two noble maidens I was interested in – before I fell askeep. Now I’m stuck with an adventurer, a warrior woman who dresses like a man and doesn’t believe in love. Still, she’s taking care of me and she’s helping me… She woke me up with a kiss, but I don’t remember much of that.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Finding a way of getting rid of Leondina’s curse. The alternative is making a chastity vow…

Do you have a family? Tell me about them.

I awoke after a century. My family was completely wiped out by the curse. I had a brother, who was married. And my parents were still alive when I fell asleep at twenty-two. Sometimes I still miss them…

Maybe because your companion isn’t very nice? Let’s hear the lady now. Tell me a little about yourself…

Who are you calling “lady”? I’m Billinda and I’m a fisherman’s daughter who became a warrior woman and a mercenary. I was wandering the northern kingdoms when I found Splendor’s castle and I hoped it hid some treasure, but no… I guess I’m not very lucky in life. *snort*

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

My sword is real and I can use it.

You don’t scare me, sister. I’m not *that* kind of woman! What is your relationship with the protagonist?

I find him, I kiss him, thinking nothing except he has yummy lips…

He has! *chuckle*

I know. *grin* Next thing he wakes up and I’m stuck with him, since any other woman lusts after him and sends him back to sleep…

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

Like he said, I don’t believe in love. Or I wouldn’t have woken him!

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Finding a new home for Splendor. He’s gorgeous, but women keep falling head over heels for him, so he can’t really settle anywhere… unless he settles with a man, but I think he doesn’t like that… *wink*

Writer Wednesday

So, February was productive, since I finished a 50K novel – based on a graphic novel published at the time of the photocopied fanzines (read: late 1990s). Longtime friend Nik might remember Kolia and Joris… I have revised their story and made it a novel in the new Silvery Earth (the original had elves and other very usual fantasy beings, now Joris is a Genn, but since it’s earlier in the history of Silvery Earth, there are still a few unicorns and centaurs and dwarves and giants and probably faeries besides the Magical Races).

ColorsDTFLovers should come out next month, after Prince Splendor (another graphic novel rewritten, they were actually sorta kinda related and they still are). For now please check Colors, the Snow White revisited that still has the seven dwarves in the new Silvery Earth.

The cover is where I drew my first bird, the swallow on Nerian’s window, talking to him (although in the opening scene it’s a family of swallows… might be earlier! 😉 I’m bad at drawing animals, have mercy!)… The previous attempt is also on DeviantART. Wait for this character’s interview sometimes next week.

I spent last weekend working on the covers of Lovers and Prince Splendor, since I didn’t want to use the old drawings from the graphic novels. Although I did end up doing a mash up of old drawings for Prince Splendor, but well… after 2 or 3 attempts at coming up with a new cover, I just gave up and looked at the old stuff! 😉

Linky links… just food for thought in the Day-Job Thinking post by Dean Wesley Smith. And if you want to see Joe Konrath fisking Lee Child

Going back to writing. And reading. Have a great week!
