Random Friday

Hi guys,
I’m Samantha and I come from another world – the original, old Silvery Earth, where people are immortal and never grow up. When I’m not switching bodies at will, I travel to other universes, especially books or movies. That’s how I met Rajveer the vampire, for example!

So, I’m taking over the interviews on this blog! And here I am, meeting people from other books/universes/whatever! So… hello, there! Let’s start with the lady first, shall we? Tell me a little about yourself, ma’am!

Maria Inesceu Sabov. I was 43 when I died.

Oh, you’re dead. Interesting… Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

People always mention my green eyes. I’m nice enough otherwise.

Cool! What is your role in the story?

My need to be buried in Romania brought my husband, my mother, and many others back there. That’s where everything else happens.

Romania! Interesting place, I’m told, with the Carpathians and everything… What is your relationship with the protagonist?

He’s been my husband for almost twenty years.

Aw, so sweet… Where did you live?

We lived in LA, but my true home is Transylvania in many ways.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

Leo saved my life by helping me get sober. He made my life worth living.

I bet he did! What is the biggest challenge you face in the story? Besides getting sober, I mean…

Coming to grips with my choices.

Do you have a moral code?

Never forget crossing one line will lead you to cross others. Always.

Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

I’m an intellectual property attorney, working with writers on movie and TV deals.

Thank you so much, Maria! Now let’s hear the gentleman, here! Tell me a little about yourself!

Leo Sabov. I’m 42, though lately I’ve been feeling a lot older.

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Relentlessly average. Brown hair, light brown eyes, medium everything else.

Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?

My wife’s addiction. That part of her tried to steal her when we were in college, and never gave up until it had her.

Would you kill for those you love? And would you die for them?

I would have for Maria if it would have helped her. I would have died for her, too.

Where do you live(world/town/whatever)?

Los Angeles, but I’m in Romania for a least a few weeks now. Transylvania.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

I am. I was. I’ve been married to Maria for almost twenty years, a widower for a couple of days.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Bringing Maria home to Transylvania to rest. Some of the traditions don’t sit well with me, but I want to keep my promises to her.

Do you have a family? Tell me about them.

My brother Brian has been all that’s kept me sane over the last few weeks. Our parents care about us, but they’re not the best at showing it.

Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

My grandparents came to the US from Slovakia, what they knew as Czechoslovakia. That’s not terribly uncommon in Cleveland where I grew up, but kind of unusual in Los Angeles.

Sunday Surprise

My name is Brenda de Zorig and I’m a journalist for the Konigtown Gazette. I’ve been on the road for years as an actress in an itinerant company, but eventually decided to go back to my hometown to start living of the thing I like the most – writing. So while I write my Masterpiece, I took this job at the Gazette and they send me on various assignments… I thought I might as well starting interviewing random people. Since I intend to write fiction, but truth is always stranger than fiction, I’m eager to hear about people out there – on my world or beyond.

We have two people here today… Two handsome, mysterious men… Let’s start with the younger. Tell me a little about yourself

My name is Zafar Nagarkar, but the galaxy got to know me as Zaphadin, the king of music. I’m thirty-five now and I retired from the spotlight – at least with that stage name. I might come back with my real name for other artistic endeavors. I love dancing and singing, but I’m a complete entertainer, so I wouldn’t mind try acting as well.

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Brown curls and bedroom eyes… Boneless body when I dance!

Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?

Besides myself, I guess my mighty manager Dahumada became the enemy. I trusted him too much and he squeezed the life out of me, giving me a complete nervous breakdown. I was young when I met him, and he promised me fame and fortune… and he did give it to me, but…

Would you kill for those you love? And would you die for them?

I’m a meek Ypsilantian man, I couldn’t kill anyone. And I’m very queasy in the presence of blood. As for dying for the ones I love… I was very close to attempt suicide, but never found the courage to do it.

Where do you live?

On Marc’harid, the former Imperial planet. I was born on Ypsilanti, lived fifteen years on Vilas Lok – when I was in the music business – and now I’ve retired on Marc’harid, preparing for my next projects.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

Yes! Although I almost lost him! He was my professor at university, I fell in love with him at nineteen. He was with me when I started my music career, but soon I got carried away and completely forgot him. He’s the only one I ever loved – he’s older than me and can be a father, a brother, a lover… and he writes marvelous song lyrics and stories and… can you tell that I adore him? I’m going to marry him!

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Get out of the celebrity machine. Ten years of struggles before I could actually be free.

Do you have a family? Tell me about them.

I’m the third of three children. My elder sister Jaya has always been my supporter. My mother opposed my dreams at first, but when she saw how I came alive on stage (at Jaya’s wedding), she forgave me and allowed me to be what I wanted to be – even though on Ypsilanti men don’t have much freedom.

Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

I think I said it all in my autobiography…

ZaphadinDTFAll right, I guess we’ll have to read the book then… Let’s hear your partner, here. Tell me a little about yourself

My name is Rashaun Khanna, I’m a professor of Ypsilantian culture. I lost my post at Lycoris University to follow Zafar in his dream, so I became a writer. I still do some teaching to make ends meet, but most of my income is royalties from the stories I write.

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Tall and dark-haired.

What is your role in the story?

I was Zafar’s manager until Dahumada walked into our lives. Zafar was a wedding singer and a model who wanted so much more… So we followed Dahumada to Vilas Lok, where at first he hired me to write Zafar’s songs and then did his best to throw me out of Zafar’s life. He succeeded – keeping us apart for ten years.

What is your relationship with the protagonist?

I absolutely adore him. Who wouldn’t? He’s so handsome and sweet and… I wasn’t much older than my students when I met him, and I’ve had another student coming at me, but only Zafar swept me away. I couldn’t resist him.

Where do you live?

Ypsilanti, except for the brief stay on Vilas Lok. I was there only for five of Zafar’s fifteen-years career. Then I went home. Well, of course now we both moved to Marc’harid, but that’s another story.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

He let me go – apparently forgot me for his career. But ten years later he came back, drained, and as soon as I lay my eyes on him, I knew he was still the only man I wanted to spend my life with. I had found someone else by then, but Aryan immediately knew he couldn’t compete with Zafar. Zafar owns my heart since he was nineteen.

SMNGKaylow_resizeSo! Hello, handsome young man! Tell me a little about yourself!

My name is Kay-low Meraini, I’m twenty and an angry young man. I’m an icy Sire aristocrat unable to grow fond of anyone, but yearning for some acceptance from the rest of the universe. Like my father, I like music and singing, and I play guitar in a band, but sometimes I think I’d rather be a solo artist.

Ah, the arts! I’ve been with a company of itinerant actors for years… Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Long dyed blond hair, black eyes and arm tattoos.

Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?

No, I don’t have life-threatening situations like my uncle or even my cousin have had. I’d tell you they are my enemy – a family of too perfect Sire. Especially the Holy Shermacs. They have powers I can only dream of.

Would you kill for those you love? And would you die for them?

I don’t have a heart. I’m that selfish.

I don’t believe you, but we shall see. Such a sweet face can’t be “that selfish”. Where do you live?

On Marc’harid, the former Imperial planet. But I’m running away for home, chasing fame on Vilas Lok, the pleasure planet and center of galactic entertainment.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

I had a girlfriend, but I didn’t love her. I’m all alone in this adventure. And maybe eventually I’ll discover I have a heart.

That’s what I thought! I’m sure you have a heart! What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

By chasing fame I come to accept my true self – not as bad as I thought.

Do you have a family? Tell me about them.

I’m the son of former Imperial Prince Kol-ian Vaurabi, but he never married my mother – actually both are in same-sex relationships. And then there’s my perfect cousin Shan-leo Shermac, to whom I can’t compare… They all make me feel useless and talentless, but I’ll prove them my worth!

I hear you! Family – you must love them, but sometimes they’re really frustrating! Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

Unlike my father and my cousin, who were raised as Imperial Princes, I don’t have genetically reinforced skin. So I have tattoos. Stars on my right arm, flames on the left. I might add more at some point, but at the moment that’s enough. They were made by a very good Xi-kongian artist who immigrated on Marc’harid a few years ago. I show them off on the cover of my first solo album – and by the way, that’s my stage name, Stardust Kay-low…

Funny, I also have a stage name, that has become my pseudonym, Brenda de Zorig… Thank you for your time and best of luck in your singing career!

Hello there. Tell me a little about yourself

Ruby Iyer, 17 ½ years

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Angry

Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?

My Ma and Dr. Braganza.

My Ma’s been like my worst enemy forever.

Dr. B, she just parachuted into my life. She wants to destroy everything I love, and of course I am not going to let her.

Would you kill for those you love? And would you die for them?

Yes. Perhaps ….

Where do you live(world/town/whatever)?

Bombay, India

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

It’s complicated

He’s just so different to me, Vikram. You know what I mean? He’s good for me. Yet he’s not the kind of person I would have chosen for myself. Still working this out.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Saving my best friend and my city from being destroyed by Dr. B.

Do you have a family? Tell me about them.

Unfortunately I do. But I normally pretend they don’t exist.

Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

I had laser surgery to fix my short-sightedness when I was twelve.

What 2 or 3 questions do you wish I’d asked and what are your answers to them?

What is the one thing you want to do before you die?

Ans: Find a pair of jeans that really fit.

Okay, let’s see who else we have here… a young man! Tell me a little about yourself

Vikram, 22 years

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

Tall, dark and… Surly

What is your role in the story?

Ruby would say I am her love interest. I say I am the one who saves her from many a tricky situation.

What is your relationship with the protagonist(s)?

Partners. We are the only thing standing between Dr. Braganza destroying Bombay city.

Where do you live(world/town/whatever)?

Bombay, India. But I studied at Oxford before I moved back to Bombay.

Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

Bombay – I love the city, which is why I chose to come back home to serve her. Ruby too I suppose. Though she confuses me. I love her innocence and her spontaneity. But she can be really confusing sometimes. She thinks too much and ties herself up in knots.

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

Saving Ruby from herself. And then saving Bombay from Dr. Braganza.

Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

I love smoking cigars. Picked it up in Oxford. And Famous Grouse is my choice of whiskey. It’s the Brit in me.

What 2 or 3 questions do you wish I’d asked and what are your answers to them?

Is there a sequel to The Many Lives of Ruby Iyer?

There is. I really come into my own in The Second Life of Ruby Iyer. Look out for it.

So, let’s see who we have here today… Yikes! Valfred myst have seen plenty of those, but I haven’t… Ehm… *cautiously approaces*  Tell me a little about yourself…

“My name is Cubby, and I’m a polar bear. I’m a little over two years old in your human years, which makes me around eight in polar bear years, since we polar bears mature at a point somewhere between four and eight of your human years. Mother says I’m growing up way too fast, and that I’m very responsible and grown up for my age. Well, most of the time anyway.”

Oh, that’s interesting… Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

“A little white bear with a big, black nose.”

Indeed… although you look huge to me anyway! Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?

“My biggest enemy is hunger; I’m often hungry, because we don’t have much, and food, and money to buy it, never lasts long enough.”

Would you kill for those you love? And would you die for them?

“I’m not sure. I’m hoping I’ll never have to find out.”

 Where do you live?

“I live in a little wooden house on a mountain that looks over a little village. I’m no good at geography, so I’m not sure where it would be on your map.”

Haha, don’t worry, I’m not from your world anyway (although we do have polar bears on Silvery Earth)! Are you involved in a relationship? If so, with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?

“I’m close with my Mother, but that’s the only sort of relationship I have. I’m too young for anything else.”

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

“Deciding whether to trade our goat in for the magic wishing beans Neige the arctic hare offered me was quite a challenge. I think the biggest challenge though was trying to get away from Glaw the giant skybear when I was in his kitchen after climbing the beanstalk.”

Do you have a family? Tell me about them.

“I have a very small family. It’s just me and my Mother. I have no brothers or sisters, and I’ve never met my Father; male polar bears are known for not sticking around, and my Father was no exception.”

Lots of Human fathers seem to do the same… Please give me an interesting and unusual fact about yourself.

“I’m one of very few polar bears not living on the ice. It does get quite cold on our mountain sometimes, but polar bears usually live further North along icy coasts.”

What 2 or 3 questions do you wish I’d asked and what are your answers to them?

“The first question you should have asked is why we live where we do when it’s not normal for polar bears. The answer to which would be that we moved here hoping things wouldn’t be so hard; do you have any idea how hard it can be to find food up North sometimes? It’s very hard! So we moved South in hopes things would be better.

The second question is what use a living goat is to animals who eat meat or fish. The answer to that one is that we also eat dairy, so we used to make use of the goat’s milk when she still provided us with some. Not all polar bears eat dairy, but we do.“

Wow, I wonder if Valfred knows any of this stuff! Maybe I should have brougth him along! Thank you for your time, Cubby!

In the previous post we met the twin princes of Amrendra, but they weren’t the only ones in front of me… I look forward to learn more about their bodyguard – if he is indeed a bodyguard.

*eyes the tall silent man one step behind the twins* Tell me a little about yourself.

K: My name is Kartik and I’m of gypsy descent. At some point I left my tribe of origin and joined Master Zahir itinerant circus where I found a scrawny teenager with big gray eyes that turned out to be much more than what I first thought… I’m ten years older than him.

*Harish moves closer to him with a grin, Rohit rolls his eyes with a smile*

Describe your appearance in ten words or less.

K: Wiry, dark-haired and pale-skinned.

Let’s not forget handsome and mysterious, please! What is your role in the story?

K: I took Harish away from Master Zahir’s circus because I was sick of watching him being pimped out. We ran away and found refuge in Jevina, capital of Lakeshi, where things went bad very quickly.

H: Actually, he told me to be careful when I performed in front of King Vijay, but I forgot… *looks dejected*

Since you’re both gorgeous, I’m not surprised you found trouble!

What is your relationship with Harish?

K: I’ve been in love with Harish for five years now, but didn’t dare telling him, knowing how much abuse he’d been through. Until we ran away and could spend some time alone together…

H: And I managed to let him know I adore him too!

Where do you live?

K: I’m a nomad, my home is where my heart is – with Harish.

What is it about Harish that you find appealing?

K: His innocence in spite of his life, and his vulnerability in spite of his built. The fact that he remained sweet and shy even if he had to do things that would drive anyone crazy or sour or angry. And he’s the most gorgeous young man I’ve ever seen as well – I love his malformed hand!

H: He is strong and independent and I’ve wanted to be like him since he first stepped into our wagon! He’s the only one who can touch me without me shivering in disgust… he’s so sweet!

What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?

K: Freeing him from King Vijay’s lust.

Oh, boy, what a story! Twin royalty, a lost twin, a lustful king… I couldn’t write anything better! Go check these tales of the southern kingdoms, set in Amrendra a long time ago…

Amrendra_resizeBLURB

Amrendra

Once upon a time there was a kingdom that mostly followed the southern traditions and culture but differed from the others for two main things: it was blessed with four seasons – instead of three, led by monsoon rains – and with twin royals, so there were always two interchangeable kings…

“The Northern Warrior”

The prince heir’s first (and unrequited) love.

“The Jesters”

Entertaining the court of Lakeshi and their lustful king.

“Twin Royalty”

Rohit and Rahul of Amrendra learn to know each other and prepare to reign together.
