Wednesday Weekly Roundup

Last week was rather productive despite expectations. I was supposed to edit the project, but got “distracted” by a story with a deadline, so I had to interrupt the editing to write a damn Holiday Story (I hate the Holidays). With time travel (I love time travel! :D). And since I was left with only a day and I was afraid it wasn’t enough to go through a whole short novel, I also started another short (that I finished on Monday). So, 12K written, yay!

Now I’ll have to finish this editing before writing the next short stories. Meanwhile I finally got my paperback copies, and had to redo a couple of covers (one was missing the title on the spine, the other had the wrong back cover copy). Meh. But it’s done, so…

Today is the last day to pre-order this awesome anthology! It goes live tomorrow, don’t miss over 400 pages of worlds of wonder and the ships our heroes fly with Stories Rule Press’ 2022 edition of Space Opera Digest. Paperback links are also there for those book lovers!

I was checking travel rules for the rest of the year, and it looks like I better find a travel agent to help me. So many forms to fill when moving to another country, even a European one, sigh! Hopefully I’ll manage to get away, though… Well, NOT traveling allows me to save for when I want to quit the day job, LOL!

But I’d rather see some new country or go back to a place I love at least once this year. Out of Italy, I mean. I know I’ll have to go to Tuscany for my father’s 90th birthday, but I really hope to get away from the whole country at some point. Maybe not the Worldcon, but closer… why not?

We’ll see. I guess that’s all for now! Have a great week!

Awesome about the word count and paperbacks being done. Hope you can manage to figure things out so you can go somewhere outside of Italy at some point this year, even if it ends up not being very far away.

I had a Haematologist appointment Friday, and for some reason it took me until Monday evening to shake the exhaustion and weakness from them taking blood to do the tests to check my levels, so I’ve slept a lot of the past week. Missed a couple of Zoom calls I’d planned to attend, barely made it to others, and definitely didn’t get any writing done.

    • I saw there is still a travel agent nearby, so I’m sure eventually I’ll figure out something!
I hope your health is as fine as it can be. Rest is always good, it’s fine if you didn’t write. Sending good vibes your way, just in case!

That’s good about the travel agent. Good luck arranging that. I know you miss your travels.

Thanks. Still feeling kind of drained. Not sure if my levels are bad or this is just a new thing I’ll have to deal with when they do blood tests now (I usually feel really drained and weak for a day or so, but not usually this long) since the doctor decided to send me home to wait for the results, using the excuse of not wanting to keep me at the hospital longer than absolutely essential (though I suspect the fact he was new to me and apparently hadn’t dealt with blind people before, since he was terrified at the idea of having to do so judging by his reaction when he realized it was the case, was at least partially to blame for this decision) so I can’t find out what they are until they’ve gone through my doctor. Although, they clearly weren’t dangerously bad, since they’d have been flagged and prioratized by the labs if they had been, so I’d have heard about it by now if that was the case.

    • Sorry to hear about the new-to-you doctor! Maybe he was young? It’s a good lesson for him, though!
Anyway, still sending good vibes your way, just in case! 😘

He did sound kind of young. Yes, it’s a good lesson for him. Hopefully he’ll eventually figure out I’m not scary. He did start relaxing a bit towards the end, but still seemed relieved when I left, and at the start of the appointment I swear he’d have gone running from the room screaming if I’d jumped up and said, “Boo!”

It was tempting. But I figured it was best not to. LOL!
