Wednesday Weekly Roundup

Last week I went over 15K again, although it took me a couple of false starts before going (and a deleted scene that had to be rewritten). Still in present and future Earth, watching the apocalypse unfold through my vampires’ eyes. Should take me to August, and then we’ll see! πŸ™‚

Meanwhile, a gentle reminder that the Smashwords Sale is almost over. If you want to grab those first five books with the brand new covers at half-price, go get them now! And don’t forget the code for the latest title, so you can add it to your shopping cart for free! πŸ™‚

And after two weeks of our Mighty Chuck fighting The Zon POD Service, we finally have More Future Earth paperback! Now the anthology is really complete, go check it out!

If you’re an indie author and you’re still chasing algorithms, I suggest you read this post by David Gaughran. It has a cute unicorn! πŸ™‚ I don’t even try to follow or predict algorithms, since they’re way smarter than me anyway.

And I read Homo Deus, which hasn’t endeared the little buggers to me! πŸ˜€ I’ve come to the conclusion that hunting algorithms is like catching typo faeries – a useless endeavor! πŸ˜‰

Although algorithms can be fooled. This week Facebook keeps reminding me where I was last year at this time (20BooksEdinburgh for the newbies of this blog). How about 2, 4 7, 10 years ago? They can’t remind me anything because I didn’t post anything…

So, algorithms can be fooled. Don’t feed them data or they’ll turn into Gremlins and get in charge of your life – well, your decisions, mostly! πŸ˜€

Maybe next year I’ll relaunch for my 10-year anniversary. Maybe I’ll do a Kickstarter. Maybe. Definitely no earlier than next year. When hopefully things have settled to the new normal even in Yankee country. Because even though in Italy it’s not that bad, I’m worried for my North American friends.

We shall overcome. Meanwhile, I’ll keep writing. And publishing. And writing this blog. Have a great week! πŸ™‚

  1. I was hoping to be able to say I did loads and loads of writing while I was offline. But I didn’t. Although, I did manage to write a few poems and get the first draft of one of the stories I started at the end of last year when I couldn’t settle to a project finished. I think it only comes to about 3,000 words all told (poems and story included) because it’s a short-ish story and my first drafts are always shorter because they lack a lot of the details, so right now it’s even shorter than it will be when I do its rewrite and flesh out those details. Anyway, not as much as I’d hoped to do, but enough that I’m pleased about it.

I don’t bother with algorithms either. They’re easily fooled, and they change too often. Besides, there’s enough to worry about without trying to keep track of how those work too. I get the gist of the point of them, I decided I don’t care, so… *shrugs*

OK. I got the Future Earth Chronicles Shorts and Sire Teens books… Was I meant to grab the other Star Minds one too? Oh, I also got all your sci-fi stories collections (grabbed those on Amazon) and just got done reading one of those, and put the review on Goodreads earlier. I just got a book I’ve been waiting for from someone spacifically in exchange for a review, so I plan to read that one next, and then I think another Barbathon is called for to get me caught back up. Never mind sci-fi July, it’s going to be a sci-fi August for me. πŸ˜‰

    • Eh, I don’t know if you still need to get something. Star Minds is concluded for now, so no hurry to get the last volume (Star Minds Interregnum Volume 2 that includes She-Wolves Team).
Thank you for purchasing the curated anthos! I hope you enjoy them both.
This weekend I’ll start with the new Future Earth Chronicles books – no pre-order, since it doesn’t work for me and changing the manuscript on Amazon even 2 years after it’s gone live is a hassle, it seems to stay a pre-order forever! You can grab them all at the beginning of October when there will be a gap, probably. Have the Barbathon in October, just in time for the prequels and sequels coming out in November! πŸ˜‰
No rush whatsoever, though. I know you’ll get to my books whenever you’re ready. Thanks, as always!

  2. It was Star Minds Interregnum Volume 2 I was wondering about. The others I’m sure I either have or you said I don’t need because the stories are in something else I’ve got.

Oh, OK. Well, I might leave the Barbathon a bit then, and do it in October like you said. Sci-fi is a good thing to mix with horror for the Halloween season, after all. πŸ˜‰

    • I hope to have also Nightly Bites Volume 3 out by then… πŸ˜‰
