Wednesday Weekly Roundup

So last week I finished Book 10 and remembered I wanted to write a shorter sequel, so I embarked in Book 11 – a novella sequel. So by the end of the week I had almost 11K new words, bringing the yearly total to 300K+. Now I’m giving the final touches to that novella and probably in the coming weeks I won’t be that productive, but I can’t complain, can I? πŸ˜‰

I still haven’t decided what to write next, I’m kind of enjoying writing on Earth, albeit in the future… I could either go back to the vampires in the past or work on that shelved project. We’ll see. I should write a few more Silvery Earth titles, but now is not a good time for secondary world high fantasy.

And you have a new title out! Tori, don’t rush to get it, since it will be included in Star Minds Interregnum Volume 2, coming out in 2 weeks. Just sayin’. Everybody else, if this cover speaks to you, go check it out! πŸ˜‰ She-wolves Team is more or less contemporary to the Lone Wolves Team, in fact at some point they meet.

This was the first time in a long time that Amazon was the last to publish the title. I uploaded it on Saturday, and whether it was the 4th of July, Covid or the fact that Mighty Zon is in Seattle, it took them 48 hours to send it live instead of the usual 12. Oh, well. Considering that on Monday I missed the bus and had to wait 1hour with 37Β°C in the shadows for the next one to do 5km… It’s July!

Actually, Sci-fi July, LOL! With the last two titles of the Star Minds Universe (for now, unless I come up with fourth generation stories) and the two curated anthologies about Future Earth, we’re all set! And don’t forget the Smashwords sale, that is not just about sci-fi, but everything else! πŸ˜‰

And my friend Rob Vagle also has a new sci-fi title out! πŸ˜‰ I’m kinda bummed he didn’t send any of those stories to me for my antho, but well… here you go!

In a world . . .

Where a new form of execution transforms more than just the condemned.

Where a being made of gears and scales calculates a human life’s monetary worth.

Where a stranger courts away mirror reflections of others, leaving one narcissist desperate and alone.

Where the Earth holds what completes each of us to fill the hollow inside our bodies.

Where one woman glimpses her alternate lives in a strange and sudden room.

Where a burning creature of the sun pines for the little blue planet in the distance.

If you’re just starting, I highly recommend you get David Gaughran’s Let’s Get Digital – it’s free right now! I have the first edition and still haven’t read it (I know, shame on me) and unfortunately if there’s something I really cannot do at this time is read all those ebooks for authors.

I still have to read his Amazon Decoded and Kris Rusch’s Creating Your Author Brand, so… I’m going to pass on this fourth edition. But if you’re just starting, grab it. I sent the link to a friend who is considering indie publishing, and he thanked me for it.

Now I’m going back to write fiction even if I’m not maximising sales, but that’s really something I can’t handle right now. One thing is hiding in a fiction world (even if it’s Earth), another is to struggle to get through in the real world! πŸ˜‰

And even though I can’t stand AC and the heat is probably going to send me in some kind of dreamstate, I will survive… hence closing up with Gloria Gaynor to cheer us up! πŸ™‚ Have a great week! πŸ˜€

  1. Yeah, your word count is definitely high enough that you can afford to not be writing while melting in the heat. Sorry to hear about the bus thing though… That sounds incredibly unpleasant. Thankfully it’s mostly only been in the high teens – or at most low 20s – here this week. I’m grateful for that both because I share your feelings towards hot weather, and because pulling apart shelving units to move them and then put them back together is bad enough when it’s around 20 degrees.

As it happens, this week’s been so busy I haven’t even read the notification Smashwords sent me about you having a new book out yet (though I did notice it existed) and I’m having to sacrifice some of my TV show watching and book reading time to sort some eMails and new blog post notifications, because my inbox is getting more out of control than usual. But I know not to go grab it when I grab the one I do need to get from a few weeks ago now, so thanks for letting me know I can just wait for the collection.

Good song choice, by the way. A great song in general, and very appropriate right now.

    • yes, no hurry, although you might want to get Star Minds Lone Wolves Team while it’s 50%off in the Smashwords sale, LOL! The new title won’t be discounted, but I’ll make it up to you by sending you something by email, as soon as it’s ready.
As for “I will survive”, I was reminded of it while rewatching In&Out – I needed some laughs and that comedy was what I needed. It’s also my favorite bit in The Replacements, when the jailed replacement team starts dancing to it (and hey, there’s Keanu Reeves, a bunch of handsome black men and even a “deaf kid” dancing to it, LOL!).
Off to finishing that novella now… so it will be ready when the time comes! πŸ˜€ Although I already know I’ll have to add stuff when I finish reading Homo Deus. Non-fiction, history, but very interesting.
      Have a great weekend!

  2. I grabbed the Star Minds book last night. I had already planned to get it this week actually, but hadn’t had a chance. I meant to do it the other day, but I had computer issues that turned out to be that my computer was trying to use an old version of Jaws I hadn’t uninstalled, so was insisting I couldn’t use firefox, and my accessability for everything via Internet Explorer is seriously limited. Anyway, that won’t happen again any time soon, because once we realized what the issue was I went in and uninstalled the old versions of Jaws. To be honest, I’d actually assumed it would have done that automatically, or written the new version over the old one, like most things do. Apparently not though. I’ll have to remember to remove the old version every time I get an update, I guess. Regardless, I have it now, and will read it soon. Oh, and thanks in advance about the next book. πŸ™‚

    • Someone else grabbed it the day before you… so I was puzzled when a second sale came through, LOL!
I will probably send you a Smashwords coupon when I’m ready, so you’ll be able to leave a review. Probably at the end of the month, though.
      Happy Sunday!

  3. YAY for you getting an extra sale. πŸ™‚

Yes, if you want the review to go on Smashwords too, a coupon’s probably best… Definitely easiest. It’s fine that it probably won’t be until the end of the month. I need to finish the series I’m reading and read and review a book someone gave me for that purpose a couple of days ago first anyhow. That’s without the Lone Wolves Team book, the sci-fi anthology you posted about that I said I liked the sound of so grabbed a copy, some books of friends of yours you posted about that I liked the sound of so also grabbed not too long ago, and all the other books waiting their turn on my Kindle. LOL!

    • I know exactly what you mean… I’m going back to KK tonight, since I finished Homo Deus (a paperback)… and I haven’t even opened the new titles on the new Kindle yet! πŸ˜‰
And another anthology is coming up – if Amazon stops acting up, that is! πŸ˜€

  4. Sometimes I wish I was one of the kind of vampire that doesn’t need to sleep. I could so do with all that extra time for reading…
