Writer Wednesday

Another non-writerly week with a little over 3K before I was off again. I knew it would be like that. Now I need to catch up. I do NaNoWriMo all year round, unless I know I have travels! 😉 I added another scene to Wanderlust, now I’m off with the next book.

Still going through the Business Masterclass notes as well, trying to prioritize things. But I won’t do anything before the new year starts. I have enough expenses this year already! But next year I should have no cover expenses (I have ready covers for 6 books that I still have to write), so I might try an audio book or two. And I’ll probably join Book Funnel too, to integrate it with Patreon and other stuff.

Anyhow, it’s november, so here’s how you NaNoWriMo according to Chuck Wendig. Like I said, I do it all year round, so I’m already in the habit of writing daily. If you want to start the habit, though, go for it! 🙂

And if you’re already an indie author, here’s an article on crisis management for authors, we’ve all been through those, right? Amazon requesting proof of copyright and threatening to close the account or stuff like that. I don’t particularly care about reviews, although apparently they sell books.

Personally, whenever I check them on Goodreads, I read both the 5 stars and the 1 stars to decide if I want to read that book. That’s Reader Barb. Writer Barb doesn’t read her reviews most of the time (and even if she does, she never ever comments on them or “rewrite” anything just because some reader somewhere hated it).

Now I shall get back to writing and typing my notes… I am a typist, so pretty fast, if I applied more butt-in-chair, I’d be as prolific as Dean who is a slow typist! 🙂 But this 500K/year goal kinda made me write more this year… I’ll have to stick with it! 😀

Have a great week!

  1. I’m the same way as you. Once I get my butt in the chair, and can keep it there a while without other shiny things grabbing my attention, I can type up a storm. But the last couple of years have been bad for word counts. Partially because of health issues and things, and partially because of procrastination. I think I’ve maybe clocked in about 8K words this year between stories and poems. But that’s it.

    • Next year you’ll be more prolific while l’ll slow down to try the things you’ve done this year (namely – AUDIO!)! 🙂
