writers on writing – Piers Anthony

Again I must thank Cassandra for mentioning Piers Antony. I admit my ignorance, I had never heard of him. As his Xanth serie seems quite long, though, I might try volume one as Cassandra gave me some curiosity and interest in at least trying it.

As I didn’t know anything about him, I googled him. I found his web page where I found the very interesting part on internet publishing. Now, that’s a lot of advice for writers who want to publish/self-publish! A sort of Writers Beware like at the SFWA, about publishers and other writer-related services.

I went through it and saw that many on-line publishers folded after a couple of years or so. Some had great controversies about them. He talks about Lulu and other publishers I had considered approaching. So lots of interesting stuff and links (I still have to check the ones I thought were interesting). Thanks, Piers!

So apparently the publishing world is still a jungle, in spite of POD, e-books and the likes. Sigh. I’d love to hear experiences of self-published authors (Prue? Mickey?), if they’d care to share their experience in the comments below…

P.S. I would like to add to this that I wrote Piers after I did my research, telling him how some web pages didn’t work and stuf like that, and got his reply right away! Through his people, but it’s still and e-mail from Piers Anthony! I really must become his reader! 🙂
